Circunis
Corporate identity and development of a marketplace for Switzerland’s largest platform for surplus food
Food waste is a real problem. According to the United Nations, more than 1.05 billion tonnes of food are wasted worldwide every year. Whilst a third of humanity is affected by famine, the equivalent of one billion meals is thrown away every day. Around 19 percent of the food available to consumers is lost in total across the retail sector, the catering industry and households (source: UNEP). Circunis draws attention to this problem, provides facts and raises awareness of the issue. Reducing food waste is a long-term goal. With its marketplace circunis.ch, Circunis creates an opportunity to connect food from industry and producers with buyers in the catering and processing sectors, thereby reducing food waste.
Storyline
The marketplace on circunis.ch allows food producers and processors to list their goods as advertisements and publish them as offers at a fixed price and in a specific quantity, either as surplus stock or upcycled products. Interested parties can contact the relevant supplier directly via the marketplace and purchase all or part of the goods. Listings on the online platform can be filtered according to various criteria, such as main category, storage conditions or stage of production. If the goods have not been sold shortly before the best-before date expires, the supplier is automatically notified and offered the option of releasing the goods as a donation.
Mission
My role involved developing the visual identity in conjunction with the logo. I was responsible for the design and technical implementation of the website and the marketplace. In addition, I oversaw the implementation of numerous automation processes, including email notifications and the storage of data from participant registrations and contact forms in the CRM. I also created the templates for the social media presence and various printed materials, as well as producing PowerPoint and Google Slides presentations.
